- What is DSL?
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. Digital Subscriber Line technology allows for the transmission of information (voice, video and data), over existing copper telephone lines at incredible speeds. DSL provides dedicated bandwidth that can be up to 50 times faster than regular dial-up. DSL uses your ordinary phone line and you are always connected. There's no dialing up or waiting caused by busy signals.
- What are the main differences between DSL and dial-up?
DSL is up to 50 times faster and you can utilize your phone at the same time.

- What lights should be lit up on my modem?
As a general rule, your DSL modem should have the following lights lit up and solid (not blinking): 'Power', 'Status', 'Lan' or 'USB' (not both), and 'Activity'.
Note, that Activity is the exception to the rule and may blink sporadically. This is normal and only indicates data passing through the modem.
- All of my lights are functioning like stated above, but I canāt surf the web.
Try Powercycling. Powercycling is simply unplugging the modem from its power source (either the back of the modem or the wall) and then hooking it up back. Once unplugged, leave the modem unplugged for about 30 seconds to give our systems time to register this, and then plug back in the modem to the power.
- My activity light blinks in a timed pattern/manner and I canāt surf.
This is a sign that the DSL modem has somehow lost its configuration. Please call technical support at 888-364-9000 to re-setup your modem.
- I have pressed the reset button on the back of my modem. Now I canāt do anything.
Resetting the modem can erase the configuration needed for the modem to properly connect to our servers. Please contact technical support at 888-364-9000 for assistance in reconfiguring your modem.
- I just received my modem, all my lights are on except 'Status'.
There are a number of different things that can affect your 'Status' light. The modemās 'Status' light represents the signal that it gets from our systems. Here are a few things to try:
1.) Powercycle the modem, by unplugging its power for 30 seconds and then plugging it back up.
2.) Make sure your phone line is going into the area labeled āLineā on the back of the modem and not plugged into āPhoneā.
3.) Check the filters. Filters must placed on every active phone in the house that uses the phone line that DSL is tied to. Make sure that you have no filter between the modem, and the jack in the wall.
4.) If you know the due date for your DSL, please allow until midnight of the given due date for the 'Status' light to come on.
5.) If you have plugged in a cordless phone into the āPhoneā area of the modem, try unplugging it and powercycle, leaving off the cordless phone.
6.) Call Technical Support at 888-364-9000 if you are still having trouble with your 'Status' light.
- Iāve had my DSL service for a while and all lights are lit up on the modem except 'Status'.
If youāve had service for awhile, and your 'Status' light has recently gone out:
1.) Try Powercycling the Modem.
2.) Look over the filters, have any of them been busted?
3.) Have you made any recent changes, such as adding a fax machine, or cordless phone to the same line as the DSL? If so, try removing them and Powercycling to see if this brings you back online.
- I only have one jack in my house, so how do I hook up my DSL modem?
If you only have one phone jack in the house, run a phone line from the wall to the āLineā port in the back of the DSL modem. This line from the phone jack to the modem should not have a filter of any device such as Caller I.D., fax machine, answering machine, etc. After running the line directly from the jack to the Line port of the modem, hook up your phone to the Phone port without a filter.
