Dial-Up Internet FAQ
- How much is dial-up Internet?
Our dial-up internet price is $18.95 per month with a $10.00 setup fee. This setup fee lowers to $5.00 if you also have Local Service and Long Distance with us. In addition, we offer bundled discounts if you also subscribe to our other services, which could significantly lower your cost.
- Do you offer any student discounts?
We offer a college student discount of $14.95 with a valid student ID for the current semester.
- How much does it cost for extra e-mail addresses?
You get two free e-mail addresses with your dial-up internet account, with additional e-mail addresses costing $2.00 each.
- How long does it take for my Internet service to be activated?
We can generally activate your account the same day, but it may take up to 24 - 48 business hours for everything to be functional on your account.
- Do you have a spam filter?
Yes! You can access and configure this utility through our Webmail system. Just go to our homepage at www.setel.com and log in to your setel e-mail account. Once you have logged into your account, go to Tools, and then choose Spam Filtering. You can set up your filtering ratings from there.
- Do you offer a pop-up blocker?
Pop-up ads must be blocked from the client side, and thus, we cannot stop them from our end of the connection. However, there are a number of free third-party applications, including the Google Toolbar, that have this functionality.
- Is there a local access number in my area?
Local access numbers are available for most areas. Go to www.setel.com, and choose the dial-up numbers under the Quick Clicks section for a complete listing.
- Is there an 800 dialup number I can use when traveling?
We can provide an 800 number for this purpose, however it is $2.00 a month and 14 cents per minute.
- How can I make my dial-up faster?
There are several troubleshooting steps you may try.
1. Using an alternate dial-up number for your area.
2. Check your phone to make sure you do not hear any static or line noise.
3. Check the phone line going into your modem, ideally it should be no more than 10 feet.
4. Make sure you have no additional equipment between the phone jack and the computer modem, such as cordless phones, answering machines, or Caller I.D. boxes.
